How To: Take A Screenshot On The LeEco Super4 X65 Android TV

Taking a screenshot on Android TV has never been the easiest or most user-friendly of tasks. Well, unless you have an NVIDIA SHIELD, as that console does offer a very easy way to take screenshots. Of course, you can always connect your device up to a computer and take a screenshot using ADB. But for some, that might be more work than they really want to embark on when just looking to quickly take a screenshot. One of the newest arrivals to the Android TV scene though, is the LeEco Super4 X-series of TVs and it seems they have a very easy way to take a screenshot. In fact, by Android TV standards, this is probably the easiest way ever to take a screenshot. The remote control is the key here as the LeEco Super4 X-series remote comes with a very prominent ‘LeEco key’. This one is at the bottom of the remote (shown below) and if you press it, it opens LeEco’s TV ecosystem – where you can access a bunch of content with your connected LeEco account. However, if you long press the same button it takes a screenshot and that literally is all you need to do to take a screenshot on the LeEco Super4 X-series. Just long press the big LeEco button. At which point you’ll see the system prompt you with a message that a screenshot has been taken. The message will even offer you the option to view the image there and then. So it does seem as though LeEco’s take on Android TV is very well tuned to taking screenshots. The downside though, is that the system is not that well-equipped for sharing those same screenshots. The ‘screenshot successfully created’ prompt does not provide you with an option to share and while the system stores your images into the native ‘Gallery’ app on the leanback launcher, the Gallery app also does not seem to offer any option to share. It is just a gallery – for viewing your taken screenshots. Which does mean that if you do want to share your screenshots then you will need to download another app. Whether that is a file manager app like ES File Explorer, or an alternative gallery app which offers sharing capabilities. On that note, one of the best apps for this will likely be the Google Photos app. This does come with Android TV support (so you can directly install the app on your TV from the Google Play Store) and once synced to your account, should allow you to automatically sync your taken screenshots with your Google account and therefore, access them from your other devices. Of course, you can always manually make use of a USB stick as the LeEco Super4 X65 does come with three USB ports – including one conveniently positioned on the top of the TV. One of the benefits of the LeEco Super4 X-Series version of Android TV is that on these sets, Android TV is the main operating system and underlies your interaction with any aspect connected to your LeEco TV. So as well as being able to take screenshots of Android TV, the LeEco screenshot feature can be used to take a screenshot of any aspect of your TV. This includes peripherals connected to your TV. Like for instance, a PlayStation 4. So in short, if you do plan to pick up one of LeEco’s Super4 X-series of TVs, then know you can very easily take screenshots, but you do need to download some additional apps to really be able to do anything with those taken images. Not a huge issue as you will likely be downloading these apps anyway, but one worth keeping in mind. The main takeaway here, is not only can you take screenshots on LeEco’s Android TV interface, but you can do so very easily and for any device connected to your TV.
